Welcome Mama, I am so honoured that you are here. I’m guessing that you are joining me here because you have a child (or children) that has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, also known as ASD, being ‘on the spectrum’ or the older term for ‘high functioning’ autism – Aspergers. Maybe you have a deeply feeling child, an anxious child, a child with additional needs or a diagnosis such as Attention Deficit Disorder.
This parenting course outlines tools and strategies that can be used with all children, diagnosis (suspected or confirmed) or not. There are simply more strategies that are designed with additional or diverse needs in mind, and that’s what sets this course apart from the rest.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Amanda. I’m a qualified Montessori educator, life coach and single mama of two beautiful girls, both of which are autistic. I have walked in your shoes. I am walking in your shoes. I know how it feels to receive a diagnosis and all that it entails. I get that you may be feeling scared, out of control, overwhelmed, lost, alone, isolated and you may even be thinking “why me, why my child?”. I hear you. There is no judgement here.
By the end of this course, you will have a whole toolbox full of practical, simple strategies that you can use in real life, and in the tough times in your house. They actually work, I know because I have used them all and the families I work with also use them with great success across a huge age range of children. But more than that, I aim to open your eyes to the fact that autism doesn’t have to be a life-ending sentence, doom and gloom and despair for you, your child or your family unit. My goal is to transform how you think about and approach autism which will completely revolutionise your family and life.
This first chapter is the biggest of them all as there’s so much juicy info I want to impart to you! So are you ready, Mama? I am! Let’s start with the basics.
